PURPOSE: Since 1999, the Hot Shops Art Center has become a thriving community of local, working artists and artisans. The 80+ artists occupying and exhibiting in 50 studios and shops warmly invite all to join them. Come visit the studios, view their very newest artwork and learn how they create them!


ARTWORK: The artwork created at the Art Center ranges from drawings, paintings, prints, photography and digital imagery to sculptures, installations, pottery, glass art, weaving, custom furniture, and clay, iron, brass, and aluminum cast architectural pieces.


DEMONSTRATIONS: Bronze pouring, clay work and raku firings, iron forging, and glass blowing are taking place in the south side of the building, plus many of the artists will also be demonstrating their work in the studios, such as painting, sculpture, and photography...

REFRESHMENTS: Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be available to guests in the individual artists studios.


LIVE MUSIC: Musical groups will perform during the day. Visitors will be able to listen to a wide variety of music on the first floor of the Hot Shops.


GALLERIES: Come check out the galleries, many of the artists will be on hand. Shows include the Metro Student Show in the Nicholas Street Gallery, plus The Visual Voice of Three Women Revisited in the 1301 Gallery. Also, the Alley Gallery will feature the photography work of Gabriel McGrath.


Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, just north of the Qwest Center.
