Nancy LIght Johnson received a B.F.A. (in painting) from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1985 and an M.A. (in Educational Administration) from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1998. She taught elementary art for thirteen years and supervised the art department for Omaha Public Schools for seven years before retiring in 2006. She is a "charter" member of the Hot Shops Studio family, having shared studio 204 with daughter Valerie Light Anderson since the center opened.

Nancy is best known for still life paintings --especially flowers--, but also works with landscape and portraits.
