Artist's Biography
Robert Dewaele was raised on a family farm near Cresent, IA. As a prelude to his artistic endeavors, he enjoyed the hands on work experiences that only living on a farm can provide. He believes that the long expanses of solitude had a lot to do with being able to develop creative approaches to thinking and problem solving.

Robert observed that his creative expression was best conveyed through three dimensional art work, with an emphasis on wood sculpture. In the intervening 25 years, Robert has exhibited in numerous cooperative art galleries and local, juried art shows. His work also stands in collections in New York City, Toronto, San Francisco and Bend, Oregon. His work studio has been located in the Hot Shops Art Center since 2004. Since he began working at the Hot Shops, he has branched into combining bronze with wood in an effort to expand his artistic vision.
